Practice occurs during Physical Education (P.E.) school period. This allows students to also participate in public school or club sports after school. However, in the case of conflicts, we ask that priority be given to WCS commitments.
GAMES/MATCHES & TOURNAMENTS.
Athletic programs involve both "home" and "away" games/matches and tournaments, while all track events are out-of-town. Games/matches typically occur after school during the week, and tournaments take place on Saturdays. Each year WCS hosts one Saturday tournament each for soccer, volleyball, and basketball.
WCS busing is often provided to events such as sport games and field trips. However, parent volunteers will be necessary for student transportation to events if there are smaller numbers of students or a licensed bus driver is unavailable.
It should be noted, transportation is provided or arranged by the student's family for certain events such as

Transportation by bus outside of the immediate Worthington area requires a permission slip completed by the parent/guardian prior to each event. Trips within the Worthington area are approved with a single permission slip signed at the beginning of the year.
Grading & Testing.
Report cards are generated quarterly.
At the Midterm point each quarter, any student receiving a failing grade in any class will be prohibited from participating in extra-curricular activities until the grade improves.
The Gradelink site allows Students and Parents to view assignments, grades, attendance, homework, and more. Parents are encouraged to routinely log in to their parent account and be proactively involved in their student's academic progress.
Students use their accounts to view individual assignments, grades, and teacher comments. Each family will have one parent account. Additional parental accounts can be requested.
Quarterly report cards are available through Gradelink, and will also sent home once finalized.
Students in Kindergarten are graded as follows:
P+ = Nearly to the goal
P = Progressing to the Goal
P- = More work required
S+ = Excellent
S = Satisfactory
S - = Needs Improvement
U = Unacceptable
Students in Grades 1-8 utilize the following grading scale:

WCS uses the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) as a standardized student testing method. These tests take place over the course of one week in the spring. They are used to measure both individual student and class progress year-over-year.
Testing covers a variety of academically critical subjects, and is submitted and scored electronically, ranking each student against a national bank of students of the same age/grade.
